Why is Sugaryy asking for a face scan?
Sugaryy uses Face Check™ to make the app more trustworthy. You take a short video selfie so we can verify your photos, estimate your age, reduce fraud, and prevent duplicate or impersonation accounts.
Once completed, and if your profile photos clearly show your face, you’ll get a Selfie Verified badge. This badge doesn’t guarantee identity or safety—always trust your instincts and review our Safe Dating Advice.
How does Face Check work?
You take a short video selfie. Our technology confirms:
- The video is of a real, live person
- It hasn’t been digitally altered
- The face matches your profile photos
From this scan, we create a FaceMap and convert it into a FaceVector to verify your photos and detect duplicate accounts.
How is my verification data used?
- Your video selfie is deleted immediately after verification
- Facial data is used to estimate your age and confirm your profile photos
- FaceVectors are compared to detect impersonation or duplicate accounts
- Three audit images are kept for system management and safety purposes
What data is kept and for how long?
- FaceMaps and FaceVectors: kept for the life of your account; deleted 30 days after closure
- Verification results & age estimates: kept 90 days after closure (or 2 years if banned)
- Audit images: kept 90 days after closure, or for the duration of any ban
- Original video selfie: never stored
Will third parties see my data?
Data is only shared with Sugaryy service providers to run and troubleshoot Face Check. Sugaryy may also share data with Match Group affiliates to improve safety, where allowed by law. U.S. residents: We do not sell or share your data.
How do I delete my verification data?
To delete your verification data, you must delete your Sugaryy account through the app’s settings. In regions where Face Check is required, deleting your account is the only way to remove this data.
Having trouble with Face Check?
Tips for a smooth scan:
- Make sure your face is well-lit and fully visible
- Remove sunglasses, hats, or anything covering your face
- Avoid group, heavily filtered, or edited profile photos
- Maintain a neutral facial expression

What if I made a purchase before completing Face Check?
In some cases, you may subscribe before finishing Face Check. If you don’t pass verification, you won’t be able to use key features like Discover or sending likes until it’s complete.
